19 BNP leaders including mayor candidate Kamrul banned for life

BNP issued a show cause notice to 19 current and former leaders for contesting the Barisal City Corporation election by ignoring the party decision. The notice gave them a deadline of 24 hours for their reply. During that period, the respective leaders responded but did not withdraw from the competition. Because of this, those 19 leaders have been expelled from the party for life.

The expulsion was announced in a letter signed by Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP on Saturday.
Zahidur Rahman, a member of the Convening Committee of Barisal Metropolitan BNP and the leader in charge of the office, confirmed this information at Prothom Alo on Sunday afternoon. He said that these letters sent by the Central Committee will be delivered to the concerned persons. Earlier, show cause notices were issued to these 19 people. Despite responding to the notice, they refused to withdraw from contesting the election.
