Australia is building a huge 'marine park'
The Australian government is planning to establish a huge marine park in the southern part of the country. This information was informed by the country's government on Sunday. The area of this park will be 4 lakh 75 thousand 465 square kilometers. That is, it would be roughly the size of Spain. The government's proposal is to expand the country's existing Macquarie Island Marine Park and develop this massive park.
Australia's Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek has announced that the entire area will be considered a protected area as a result of the establishment of this huge marine park. Fishing, mining or other marine resource extraction activities will be prohibited in this area.
Located between Australia and Antarctica, Macquarie Island is famous for its diverse ecosystems. There are various animals like penguins, seals here.
