People's Leasing Reorganization of the Board of Directors

The High Court has reconstituted the board of directors of financial institution People's Leasing and Financial Services Limited (PLFSL). After hearing an application made by PLFSL, Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam gave the order to a single high court bench of the government.
The full copy of the order was published recently. Retired Senior District and Sessions Judge Hasan Shaheed Ferdous is the chairman of the reconstituted board. The other members are former Additional Secretary Kazi Anwarul Haque, Brigadier General (retired) Kazi Toufiqul Islam, Supreme Court lawyer Reshad Imam, Mohammad Azizul Islam Rana FCA, depositors' representative Md. Atiqur Rahman and managing director of the organization. Advocate Mezbahur Rahman represented PLFSL in the court and Advocate Tanjib-ul-Alam and Kazi Ershadul Alam represented Bangladesh Bank.
Lawyer Mejbahur Rahman told Prothom Alo today that the six-member board must have a quorum to hold a meeting. So there should be four members. One board member has resigned, two other members are absent due to illness. Non-fulfilment of quorum was disrupting normal functioning, hence the application seeking reconstitution of the Board
