87 percent of rich and upper middle class people in the country do not pay any income tax, which is very unacceptable. This situation needs to be resolved.

Bangladesh Economic Association said these things in the pre-budget discussion organized by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Sunday. The Economic Society also said, '1.8 million people pay taxes in this country. 1 lakh of them are engaged in government jobs and other jobs. According to us, the number of income tax payers among the rich and upper middle class in the country will be 9-10 lakh. This number is supposed to be 78 lakh 32 thousand. That means 87 percent of the rich and upper middle class pay no income tax at all.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Economic Association Ainul Islam said that the opportunity to whiten black money should be stopped and measures should be taken to suppress the money laundering.
