Instructions for submission of list of registrable GI products

The High Court directed to file in the court the list of geographical indication (GI) products that are nationally and internationally registrable along with the registered products.

Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar and Justice Sardar. The High Court bench consisting of Rashed Jahangir gave this order along with the ruling after the preliminary hearing of a writ today. The court fixed March 19 as the date for submission of the report regarding the implementation of the directive (implementation).

Sarwat Siraj Shukla filed the writ on Sunday seeking directions to prepare a consolidated list of GI products. He himself heard the writ on behalf of the court.

Later, Sarwat Siraj Shukla told Prothom Alo that he has ordered to submit the list of registered GI products in Bangladesh and the list of nationally and internationally registrable GI products within one month. March 19 has been fixed for hearing.
