Regional Mathematics Festival is going on in Feni

The Dutch-Bangla Bank-Prothom Alo Regional Mathematics Festival has started with the participation of students in Feni. This Saturday morning, the festival started with national anthem and flag hoisting at Feni Government College ground.

Suparna Chakma came to the festival from a remote area of Dighinala upazila of Khagrachari. He had come to Feni the previous afternoon to spend the night with family members to participate in the festival. From eight o'clock this morning, young mathematicians started coming to the college grounds. The field is full before 9 am.

In the presence of more than five hundred students from Khagrachari, Feni, Noakhali and Lakshmipur, the college ground turned into a gathering. Young mathematicians of four classes—Primary, Junior, Secondary and Higher Secondary—stand in a row on the field. The festival was inaugurated by blowing balloons. The festival started with hoisting of National Anthem, National Flag, Flag of Bangladesh Math Olympiad and Flag of International Math Olympiad.

The festival is organized by Bangladesh Math Olympiad Committee under the patronage of Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited and under the management of Prothom Alo, keeping in mind the slogan 'Learn Mathematics, Dream It'. In the opening phase, the National Flag was hoisted by the Deputy Director of Feni Local Government Department Golam Mohammad Baten, the International Mathematics Olympiad flag was hoisted by the Principal of Feni Government College Mohammad Mokhtar Hossain and the Bangladesh Mathematics Olympiad flag was hoisted by the Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited Feni branch. Announcing the opening of the festival, Golam Mohammad Baten said to the students that the maths festival inspires Bangladeshi students to love mathematics. They will spread light at home and abroad. This will help in building robotics and genetic engineering in the future.
Principal Mohammad Mokhtar Hossain said that village students are afraid of mathematics. Prothom Alo overcomes that fear through this arrangement and excels in mathematics. Their organization will move the country forward.
