The number of students in public universities is also equalizing

The total number of students in public universities including affiliated colleges and madrasas is 44 lakh 15 thousand 649 people.

There are 23 lakh 1 thousand 818 female students and 21 lakh 13 thousand 826 female students.

New data from the University Grants Commission (UGC) says that the number of male and female students in public universities is becoming equal. In some of these universities, female students are leading among the newly admitted students.

Girls already outnumber boys in primary and secondary schools across the country. Female students are also ahead of male students in higher secondary college participation. But the university was lagging behind.

According to the UGC's latest annual report presented to the President a few days ago, the average rate of female students in public universities in the country is now 48. And the student rate is 52.

Some benefits including stipend are given to girl students at the government level. Apart from this, the awareness among the parents is also increasing now. Higher education opportunities are also increasing. New universities are coming up and honors courses have been introduced in many colleges at the local level. Due to these reasons, the rate of students in public universities is also increasing.

However, compared to the participation of women in education, the rate of women in government jobs is still not sufficient. According to Public Administration Ministry's 'Public Employees Statistics 2022', out of 140 thousand government employees working in the country, there are 4 lakh 9 thousand 139 women and about 1 million men.
