50 years later, the US spacecraft is on its way to landing on the lunar surface

After half a century, the US spacecraft is going to land on the moon again. A Houston-based company will attempt to land a spacecraft on the surface of the moon on Thursday.

NASA, the United States' space agency, funded the lunar mission, which was carried out by commercial spacecraft. The mission aims to pave the way for sending astronauts to the Moon by the end of this decade.

If all goes well, the intuitive machine will guide its hexagonal robot Odysseus to a safe landing at the moon's south pole at 10:30 p.m. (2230 GMT).

The people in charge of the mission hope to confirm the success of the lunar mission about 15 seconds after the historic moment of landing on the lunar surface. The concerned commercial organization will broadcast the promotion live on their website.
The robot Odysseus will capture the last few seconds of the lander's descent with its 'EagleCam' as it approaches the lunar surface.

Earlier last month, a US company's lunar mission failed. This raises questions about the ability of non-governmental organizations to manage lunar missions. Finally, in 1972, NASA successfully conducted the Apollo 17 mission to the Moon.

Scott Pace, director of George Washington University's Space Policy Institute, told AFP the US is trying to rebuild its lunar capabilities after decades of absence.

Pace, a former member of the US National Space Council, said, 'It's rare that we've done it (successful lunar missions) in the past; Why can't I now? Every generation needs to learn how to do this campaign.
