Eiffel Tower made of wood

Two friends in western France have built a 16 meter (52 ft) tall replica of the Eiffel Tower. They used recycled wood in this work. The two friends hope to display their wooden model of the Eiffel Tower at the Olympics this summer.

Working on the wooden Eiffel Tower were 38-year-old carpenter Frédéric Malmejac and his friend Sylvain Bouchard, 46. They claim that they have made this beautiful model of the Eiffel Tower by using the wood that was thrown away after use.

Malmejac said their goal in undertaking the project was to use as much recycled wood as possible. They want to show that things that are thrown away can be used to create something great.

Carpenter Malmejac also said that he and his friend used 825 pieces of wood to build this model of the Eiffel Tower. They started working on this project in September last year. They hope to get permission to display this miniature model of the Eiffel Tower in the area where the Olympic Games will be held.
