Most of the A.League candidates are new

More new faces are coming to the seats reserved for women in the 12th National Parliament. Awami League has finalized candidates in 48 seats. The ruling party's finalist list is mostly new faces. However, party nominations have been given to seven women MPs of the previous parliament.

At least three women have been nominated on reserved seats who contested the last January 7 election and lost and the nominations were cancelled. Women who were state ministers also got tickets to come to Parliament.

Party candidates were finalized at the Awami League Parliamentary Nomination Board meeting at Prime Minister's residence Ganobhaban from 12 noon on Wednesday to 5 pm yesterday. Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader announced the names of party candidates at a press conference at Ganobhaban after the nomination board meeting. But before that, the candidates were interviewed at Ganobhaban at 10 am. Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave a speech in that episode.

In this Parliament, the ruling Awami League got 38 reserved seats in proportion to the 225 MPs who won the boat symbol. And 62 independent members of Parliament have given the power of electing members to the seats reserved for them to Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Awami League got 48 seats out of all the seats reserved for women in the 12th National Parliament. The main opposition party Jatiya Party is getting the remaining two reserved seats. 1 thousand 549 people bought the nomination form of Awami League to be candidates for 48 reserved seats of Awami League. The cost of each nomination form was 50 thousand rupees.

Announcing the names of the candidates in the press conference, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that the list of candidates has been finalized after scrutinizing more than 1500 candidates.
