Nawaz Sharif is withdrawing from active politics

What will be the role of the supreme leader of the Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif in the new government of Pakistan? Such questions have come up again and again. Answered by Nawaz's daughter and PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz. Nawaz's party nominated Maryam as the next Chief Minister of Punjab.

Yesterday, Wednesday, Maryam posted a post on X. In the post, Maryam said, Nawaz Sharif is not going away from active politics for the next five years. He will play a caretaker role in the PML-N-led government to be formed at the Center and Punjab.
Maryam also wrote, PML-N won majority of popular vote in three provinces under Nawaz's leadership.

Referring to herself and her uncle Shahbaz Sharif as 'Nawaz's soldiers', Maryam said, 'Shahbaz Sharif and I are his (Nawaz's) soldiers. We will follow His instructions and work under His leadership and supervision. May Allah grant us success. Amen.'

No party won an absolute majority in Pakistan's National Assembly elections held on February 8. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed independent candidates won the most seats. Therefore, the parties started the process of forming the coalition government after the announcement of the election results.
