Priya is the country's best in cycling with the help of her parents

Society is conservative, poverty in the family. But parents are generous. Priya Khatun has become a champion by overcoming all obstacles with her immense interest, hard work and support from her parents. This eighth grader has won hundreds of sports medals at such a young age.

Priya Khatun of Rajnagar Bakvarshi village of Jessore's Keshabpur upazila became the national best among girls in cycling in the 52nd winter national sports competition held in Rajshahi recently. In the same event, captain Priya and her team were runners-up in hockey.
Priya Khatun is the daughter of Shajahan Ali Moral of Rajnagar Bakvarshi village in Keshavpur. Father is a fourth class employee of Bakvarshi Secondary School, Rajnagar. Ma Lucky Begum manages everything in the house. Priya is an eighth grade student of Garbhanga Secondary Girls School. His classmates and teachers are excited about his success.

Priya's father Shajahan Ali Moral told Prothom Alo that their village is very conservative. Girls sports are not seen there. But Priya was interested in sports since childhood. She used to play football with the boys as the only girl. High jump, long jump, sprinting were first or second in all the events at the initial stage.

Priya's mother Lucky Begum said that many people talk about why Priya plays sports despite being a village girl. But they ignored that and encouraged the girl more. Priya's dream is to play in the national women's football team. He wants to brighten the face of the country.

Suprabhat Bose, principal of Garbhanga Secondary Girls' School, expressed pride in Priya Khatun's success in sports. He said, 'The generous spirit of the parents and patronage of our school has brought success to Priya. We will provide all possible support for Priya to play in the national team.

Keshabpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Tuhin Hossain said, "We will sponsor Priya. I will definitely do whatever it takes to make her dream a reality. Priya will be welcomed by the upazila administration.
