Tapas Pal: The hero did not end well

Apart from the so-called hero, Indian film actor Tapas Pal won the hearts of the audience with his simple-calm looks and acting skills. His popularity peaked in both Bengals in the eighties and nineties. Today is the actor's death anniversary. He breathed his last on 18 February 2020 at a private hospital in Mumbai. He was 61 years old.

Directors of commercial cinema in India, especially Kolkata, were repeatedly casting Tapas Pal in roles that did not resemble the so-called hero of Bengal; Rather normal, Sarlya Tapas emerges in Pal's character. That's why his series of family stories became superhit commercial movies of the eighties and nineties.

Tapas Pal was born on 29 September 1958 in Chandannagar, Hooghly. He was interested in acting since childhood. He entered the acting world at the age of 22 during his college life. His performance was exceptional. Famous directors have used this acting skill of hers. Good looks, good dances, simple looks make Tapas Pal unique to the so-called heroes of Bengali films as opposed to knowing the mayhem. One family story film after another has been made based on him.

Love, pride, passion and mild mayhem were the hallmarks of Tapas Pal's movies. Perfect simplicity on the one hand, heroic rescue of the heroine in the climax, on the other—he went from actor to star in many scenes. But this is not the end, this star of commercial cinema was also taken by director of alternative genre like Buddhadev Dasgupta. Tapas Pal has done great acting in movies like 'Uttara' or 'Mand Mayer Upakhyan'. His role was small but his performance was outstanding.

Tapas Pal entered the world of cinema with the film 'Dada Kirti' directed by Tarun Majumdar. After that, several hit films including 'Gurdakshina', 'Saheb', 'Bhalobasa Bhalobasa' brought him to the peak of popularity. As an actor he was equally popular in Bangladesh. Won Filmfare Award for 'Saheb'.

Apart from Bengali, Tapas Pal has also acted in Hindi films. Once moved to Bombay for acting. In 1984, Madhuri Dixit starred opposite him in Hiren Nag's 'Abodh'. He was also seen acting with Rakhi Gulzar. He returned to Calcutta on the call of Tarun Majumdar and starred in 'Bhalobasa Bhalobasa' opposite Debsree Roy. Devashree-Taaps became a successful duo in Bengali films. 'Arpan', 'Surer Sathi', 'Surer Aakash', 'Nayanmani', 'Chokher Alo', 'Tabu Minde Rekho' are Tapas Pal's successful movies.

Tapas Pal also entered politics due to his popularity. In 2009, he became Member of Parliament from Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency on the nomination of Trinamool Congress, the ruling party in the state of West Bengal. However, he also got involved in controversy surrounding various comments.

Fans also say that he could not have been a good son of 'Dada Keerti' in the end. Rather, in the last few years of his life, the script of his life took a tragic turn. Tapas Pal, who is associated with Indian investment firm Rose Valley, allegedly took huge amounts of money illegally. He was also in CBI custody in Bhubaneswar for some time. He was criticized for threatening 'rape' at a political meeting. His negative video went viral. At that time his popularity was at the bottom.

However, he wanted to return to the familiar world of acting. But he did not return, he did not go to the country of return. After his death, West Bengal Left Congress leader Sujan Chakraborty commented, 'Taaps Pal was not a politician. His popularity is used in politics.

The way he got involved in controversy and allegations, one could say it was a disaster.' State Congress president Somen Mitra commented, 'Tapas had to go untimely, painfully. Tapas may be a victim of situations thrown at him by those for whom he went into politics Be it a victim of politics or his own fault, it is certain that this hero did not end well.
