Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmood said there is no alternative to strong global partnerships, collective action and fair and inclusive adequate financing for developing countries to combat climate change.

The minister made the call at a forum titled 'Causes and Effects: A Two-Pronged Fight Against Climate Change' organized as a side meeting of the annual International Security Conference in Munich, Germany on Friday evening local time. This information was informed in a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka today Saturday.

Hasan Mahmud said that the supply of funds for developing countries is gradually decreasing. But ensuring adequate financing for these countries to achieve adaptation and resilience to global climate change is the need of the hour.

Hasan Mahmud said that despite being the lowest carbon emitter (0.48 percent of global emissions), Bangladesh is a unique example of one of the countries most threatened by climate change. The world to tackle climate change. A major plan in this regard is the 'Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan'.


At the forum, the foreign minister talked about the multi-dimensional initiative under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He highlighted the policies and programs of Bangladesh including sea level rise, salinity increase in the coastal areas of the country, drought in the north, storms in the south, tides, climate change trust fund, Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100, national adaptation. Plans to deal with outbreaks of floods across the country.

At the forum, Norway's International Development Minister Anne Beth Tvinerim, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, UAE's Minister of Climate Change and Environment Maryam bint Mohammed Saeed Almeiri reiterated the importance of global coordinated efforts.
