Nicolas Rieth, inventor of the important and popular computer programming language Pascal, was born in Wintefa, Switzerland. Rieth received his master's degree from Laval University in Canada in 1960 and his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in 1963. From 1963 to 1967, he taught at Stanford University in the United States. From 1967 to 1975, he was a professor of computer science at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. From 1975 to 1999, he served as a professor of computer science at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. Initially, Pascal was written solely for the purpose of teaching programming. Later Rieth and Oberon combined the Pascal programming language and operating system for personal workstation users.

Reith's most recent project is CADtools for component design. Cadtools aims to bridge the gap between hardware and software. Rieth has received the ACM's AM Turing Award and the IEEE Computer Society's Computer Pioneer Award.

Computer hacker Kevin Mitnick has been arrested
Hacker Kevin Mitnick was arrested by US Central Intelligence Agency-FBI in a planned long operation. He was arrested at Mitnick's Riley apartment in North Carolina. He was charged with hacking and defrauding US federal government computers and networks for two and a half years. Mitnick was previously sentenced to a year in prison for hacking in 1988. In 1999, Mitnick was sentenced to 46 months in prison and ordered to perform 3 years of correctional work.
Kevin Mitnick was born on August 6, 1963 in Van Nuys, California. He is also known as The Condor and The Darkside Hacker. Mitnick currently works as an IT consultant and writes. He works as the Chief Hacking Officer of Nobifour Inc.
