Russia is on the brink of developing a cancer vaccine, Putin says

President Vladimir Putin says Russia is on track to develop a cancer vaccine. He said yesterday, patients can get this vaccine soon.

This information was given in a report by the news agency Reuters on Thursday.
"We are very close to developing a new generation of cancer vaccines and drugs," Putin said in a televised address on Wednesday. I hope that soon this vaccine will be effectively used as a vaccine in treating patients.

Putin said these things at an event organized by the Future Technology Forum in Moscow.
However, he did not specify exactly what type of cancer the vaccines mentioned by Putin would be used to prevent or how.

According to reports, many countries and companies around the world are now working on cancer vaccines. Last year the UK government signed a deal with German-based BioEntech to launch clinical trials to deliver 'personalized cancer treatments'. The country has set a target of reaching 10,000 patients by 2030.

In addition, drug companies Moderna and Merck & Company are also developing experimental cancer vaccines. A mid-term study of the vaccine's effectiveness found that patients with advanced melanoma were less likely to have the disease come back or die after three years of treatment.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are currently six registered vaccines against human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV causes several types of cancer, including cervical cancer. There is also a vaccine against hepatitis B (HBV).

During the coronavirus pandemic, Russia developed its own 'Sputnik V' vaccine against Covid-19. They sell in different countries. In Russia, however, public reluctance to take the vaccine was high.
